Catholic schools earn top marks in annual academic review
The commitment teachers have to their students often goes unnoticed, so it's nice to see them recognized for a job well done. St. Helen's elementary school teachers were recently rewarded with the Garfield Weston Award for Excellence in Education, which recognizes schools that have made the largest academic improvement.

St. Helen's students rally to their principal's support in Olympic flame relay
Waldemor Sambor knows a thing or two about the importance of keeping fit, and he passes this message on any way he can.
That's why the St. Helen's Elementary School principal wanted to run with the Olympic torch, a feat he accomplished in Squamish, running 300 metres with the Olympic flame overhead.

The Garfield Weston Award for Excellence in Education
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov 9, 2007) - Fifty-three schools from across British Columbia were recognized as being among the best in the province at the annual Garfield Weston Awards for Excellence in Education dinner in Vancouver Thursday.
St. Helen's Elementary School of Burnaby won the award for Improvement in Academics-Elementary and a $3,000 prize.
